Judge Not

We are admonished by God through His word never to judge anyone. Passing judgement presupposes that we are already perfect and seeking perfection from the other person. But we are all in the process of attaining perfection. We are not perfect yet. That is why we are to leave judgement to God because He is the only perfect one. None of us can compare with the perfection of God. This is the reason why we must always pursue the mercy of God and also have mercy on others.

Sometimes we are quick to judge people without listening to their version of the story. We compare the sins we have committed with the sins of other people and grade ourselves better than the other person. But in the sight of God, we are all sinners who need forgiveness from the Father. We have no business judging others when we are in the same or similar situation. Why do we think we are better than the other person? It is the proud who thinks he/she is better than others.

When we have not been through the experiences of others, we have to be very careful about passing judgement and drawing conclusions. It is not our duty to judge but to pray for the other person. We have been in certain situations where we were quick to pass judgement and condemn. We make it look like if we were in similar situation, we may act differently and in a better way. But the truth is that we may never be in that situation for us to even act our written script. The easiest thing to do is to pass judgement when we have never being in such situations before.

We have to learn to show love rather than condemn and judge quickly. It is not in our place to judge anyone. We want to leave judgement to God alone. He knows the ins and outs of all humans and knows the intent of every heart. We must learn to show love and compassion. This is what it is expected of us. We have been forgiven so much, we must also forgive and show compassion to others. God is the only one who can judge anyone.

We have not been merciful. We have not shown compassion and love. We have been quick to justify ourselves, but quick to condemn and judge the other person. We need God to have mercy on us. We should seek for the mercy of God and refrain from judging people. God is the only judge and we shall all stand before the judgement seat of God. When everyone of us shall stand before the judgement seat of God, we have no business judging people.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:7 (AMPC) Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous—with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favour and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy! It is only those who show mercy, who would be shown mercy.
